Finnish jewelry company
Papaja was founded in 2000 in Fiskars Village, and since 2005, we have been operating in Helsinki. The design process, which takes place directly with the customer, has been the cornerstone of our business from the very beginning.
We create personalized, durable jewelry with high-quality craftsmanship, honoring traditional techniques—while embracing the possibilities of modern technology. In addition to rings, our selection includes unique jewelry collections made in small series, as well as silver christening spoons.
Why order a ring or piece of jewelry from a goldsmith?
A custom-made ring or jewelry piece crafted by us is designed and made specifically for you. Careful, collaborative design with the customer, combined with high-quality goldsmithing, guarantees a result you can be satisfied with.
Designers and goldsmiths
Papaja’s lead designer is goldsmith-designer Anneli Aaltonen. Anneli has over twenty years of experience designing and making custom jewelry. She graduated from the Goldsmithing Department at Lahti Institute of Design in 2000.

"A small business that creates jewelry and objects based on need and personal significance is my way of practicing responsible design and goldsmithing"
Where are Papaja's jewelry made?
Papaja’s own workshop is located in Kallio, Helsinki, adjacent to our store. The domestic craftsmanship level of our jewelry is 100 %, with approximately 90 % of production carried out in-house. Industrially manufactured chains are sourced from within the EU.
Unique, sustainable jewelry
We do not produce items for the mass market. One of the key principles of our business is avoiding unnecessary production. 90 % of our work consists of rings and jewelry models that have been made as one-of-a-kind pieces on commission. This minimizes excessive material and energy consumption.
A custom-designed and crafted piece of jewelry is also more meaningful to its owner, ensuring a long lifespan. Handmade jewelry can also be repaired, further extending its usability—passed down through generations.
Diamonds and gemstones
We use diamonds in our jewelry, sourced from a trusted Finnish specialist company focused on the trade of diamonds and gemstones. This allows us to acquire truly unique diamonds while ensuring their origin in the best possible way.
Recycling precious metals and gemstones
The precious metals we use are recycled. Gold and other precious metals have exceptional recyclability, and material waste in precious metal production is minimal—since all metals are carefully collected and efficiently reused.
